Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an Advanced Service Engineer to uphold the operational functionality and presentation of Wernick Power Solutions (WPS) equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, cabling and associated ancillaries. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will conduct routine inspections, testing and servicing, attend breakdowns and repairs, and perform installation and commissioning tasks while maintaining our high standards of customer service, safety and quality.

You will be required to be on call on a rota basis. You will receive additional pay for being on call and be paid for any call‑outs you do.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to and promote SHEQ group standards.
  • Achieve optimum, yet safe productivity levels with designated workload.
  • Manage all transactional elements of the role – breakdowns, services, PDIs, damage assessment and timesheets.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and provide safety observations for any unsafe practice in the depot or on a customer site.
  • Keep overdue servicing below 6 % of total fleet in your designated area.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date training and competencies via the PDP skills matrix.
  • Provide support outside normal job role as required by the Depot and Service Manager.
  • Keep the company vehicle in good condition and stocked with appropriate tools, oils, consumables and safety equipment.
  • Seek time to self‑develop via training platforms, online learning hubs and structured training sessions.
  • Provide support for colleagues as and when required.
  • Ensure depot and engineering standards are met.
Essential Criteria:
  • Skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines relevant to the equipment involved.
  • Ability to perform competent maintenance routines, whether in field service or depot‑based roles.
  • In‑depth skills for fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair and testing of the defined equipment.
  • Experience working with generator engines is essential; applications without this experience will not be considered.
Qualifications:
  • C and G, NVQ or other recognised professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience in multiple technical disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical (desired).
  • Hands‑on experience in service, maintenance, installation and repair of diesel‑driven generators.
What You Will Get in Return:
  • Competitive salary and bonus scheme.
  • Company van, overtime available, on‑call pay.
  • Generous holiday allowance with options to buy, sell or carry over holidays.
  • Group pension and annual salary review.
  • Life assurance and personal accident insurance.
  • Christmas shutdown, free on‑site parking.
  • Employee assistance programme and wellbeing support.
  • Training and progression opportunities within a family‑run company.
  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme, employee referral scheme, discounted retailers’ scheme and corporate eye‑care through Specsavers.
