Advanced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist (Acute Wards)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust Physiotherapy Service for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 physiotherapist.

The role will provide leadership to the inpatient team and you must have significant NHS experience, working in the inpatient workstream at B6/B7 level.

To succeed, you must have excellent leadership skills and leadership training/experience is essential. You will be directly responsible for staff rostering, appraisals and clinical audits.

Your application should demonstrate your ability to manage a team, mentor and develop more junior staff, and efficiently manage staff rosters. The successful candidate will be expected to have outstanding organisational and communication skills.

You will be part of the 24 hour respiratory on‑call service. We are moving to a 6‑day rostered service (approximately 1 in 8 – with a day back in the week), with a view to a 7‑day service in the future.

Main duties of the job

To act as an advanced clinical specialist responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients referred with acute complex needs, and to provide to the broad range of patients referred to the medical service with a range of complex presentations.

To act as lead clinician within specialist area supporting the operational delivery, planning, co‑ordination, and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service provided for patients on Medical Wards, at respective base including service development initiatives.

To act as the team lead for the physiotherapy general medicine service provided at MCHT.

To act as an expert source of knowledge, offering specialist clinical advice and support to other healthcare professionals and agencies across organisational boundaries.

To take the lead for clinical audit and research within a highly specialist field of practice, developing clinical practice and treatment outcomes.

To initiate, plan, deliver and evaluate formal and informal training to other health care professional staff groups, patients and carers, across a range of settings.

To supervise junior staff and assistants, including the implementation of induction and competency training programmes to develop clinical skills.

To provide clinical leadership and support to junior staff and assistants, through case supervision, and the development and monitoring of competencies.
