Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional nurse to appoint to this key leadership post within our HIV and Integrated Sexual Health service based at St Mary’s hospital in central London.

The successful candidate for this Lead Nurse / Advanced Clinical Practitioner role will provide operational leadership and direction for the HIV nursing team comprising of nurse practitioners, specialty nurses, staff nurses, nursing associates and healthcare assistants.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive relevant experience within the field, advanced clinical skills and knowledge, especially in operational management, and HIV. The post holder will be expected to work clinically as well as proving operational leadership to the team.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will be a skilled communicator with a passion for education and staff development. You will place a high priority on maintaining a supportive and caring environment for both patients and staff, and on developing the highest standards of evidence based practice and achieving key quality metrics.

You will be fully supported in your role by the department’s consultant nurses and wider leadership teams.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse / Midwife
  • Has attained / working towards a master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or related area
  • Post registration courses in HIV, contraception and / or sexual health.
  • Holds / working towards Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare, letters of competence in sub dermal implants and intrauterine devices
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and assessing qualification and has taught as a guest lecturer in sexual health at a University level
  • Holds / working towards Faculty Registered trainer status
  • Leadership qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Minimum 5 years post registration experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in a clinical position within sexual health posts
  • Minimum of 18 months of experience of staff management
Desirable criteria
  • Previous people management / budget management experience
  • Previous experience of staff supervisionPrevious experience of involvement with clinical audit and / or disease surveillance
Skills
