We have an exciting opportunity for a Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B prison located in Lancashire.

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner you will have experience working within mental health and be a prescriber. You will be based within the healthcare department and will also be required to work on the prison wings.

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 8am - 4pm

Salary

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary of between £59,677 and £66,792 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing wide-ranging and complex patient problems
  • Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team, which is a multi-disciplinary team made up of registered and non-registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners
  • Act as a role model ensuring professional appearance and maintaining professional standards at all times
  • Support senior clinicians on site as part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients
  • Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases and apply the most up-to-date treatment methodology to patient care

Qualifications required
  • Registered Nurse Adult Mental Health with current NMC or Registered Paramedic with current HCPC
  • Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification
  • MSc in Advanced Practice
  • Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
