Job description
Advanced Clinical Pharmacist- HPB Surgery

The closing date is 29 December 2025

Do you love surgery? Are you driven to develop a new surgical specialty role within the pharmacy team?

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at CUH to join the pharmacy team as an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) Surgery. As the Regional Referral Centre for HPB, and the third largest centre in the country, we provide high level expertise for all benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary system to patients across the East of England.

Main duties of the job

For this new role, we are looking for a proactive, self‑motivated individual with excellent organisational skills who can work effectively under pressure, both alone and as part of the wider pharmacy and multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for leading the HPB pharmacy service provision at CUH, representing the specialty in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role is based at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where you will work as part of the wider HPB MDT, providing expert pharmaceutical knowledge and high level input to the management of HPB patients in the peri‑operative period.

The post holder will utilise prescribing skills to optimise medications, champion antimicrobial stewardship in complex surgical patients and lead on the development of safer prescribing practices within the HPB team. You will be supported by the Lead Pharmacist for Surgery to develop this service, and represent pharmacy at HPB Governance.

In addition, you will also work within the pharmacy team to provide education to trainees, junior pharmacists and the wider MDT.
