The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Pharmacist to join our expanding and progressive Pharmacy team. The successful post holder will help to develop the Clinical Pharmacy service to our Haematology and Oncology Day units and inpatient ward across the Trust. The Pharmacy Cancer Services Team have excellent working relationships with the medical and nursing staff and are well integrated into these teams. You will have the opportunity to help to develop protocols for systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT), clinical guidelines, be involved in the education and training of Nurses, Doctors and Pharmacy staff. As part of this post you will take on a non-medical prescribing role in an outpatient clinic setting, this will be fully supported through our education and training competency framework, and includes shadowing and supervision before final sign-off is complete. We are also committed to providing support for education and training to enhance your career, including the non-medical prescribing qualification and further courses to enhance your skills in a clinic setting.
You will be supported by a team of experienced Oncology and Haematology Specialist Pharmacists, Advanced Clinical Pharmacists, the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Services Cancer, and the Highly Specialist Oncology Pharmacist. The Advanced Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for medicines optimisation in Oncology and Haematology. Acts as the Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for clinical chemotherapy services to the Trust. The Advanced Clinical Pharmacist will work closely with the lead cancer clinician and chemotherapy lead, oncologists and haematologists for the delivery of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy services to the specialty area demonstrating advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in all aspects of work. Lead responsibility for setting up new cancer chemotherapy regimens on chemocare (electronic prescribing). Lead responsibility for management of patient access schemes for cancer drugs and for the reporting of expenditure on cancer drugs. Provides the highly specialised clinical advice to the pharmacy clinical trials team regarding haematology and oncology trials conducted within the Trust. Acts as a designated transplant pharmacist (as per JACIE accreditation requirements).
