Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) seeks a motivated pharmacist to join our pharmacy team for maternity cover, delivering advanced clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation across inpatient services.

You will lead a team of pharmacists and technicians at Newsam Centre, mentor trainees, and contribute to education across the Trust while maintaining high standards of patient care.

• Masters or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy (+ 1 years pre-registration experience) + General Pharmaceutical Council registration.
• Postgraduate clinical pharmacy/ pharmacy practice experience or equivalent years’ experience.
• Experience of hospital pharmacy.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our progressive, pharmacy team to cover an upcoming maternity leave.

• To provide advanced clinical pharmacy and medicines related care to service users with mental illness, learning disabilities and substance misuse problems.
• Your focus will be to lead on and provide complex medicines optimisation advice and professional leadership to the inpatient services based at one or more LYPFT hospital sites.
• You will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team(s) but also independently to proactively identify, respond to and develop patient centred treatment recommendations for medicines queries, prescribe medicines if appropriately qualified and within scope, speak with service users/carers about medication to improve service users’ outcomes and experience of their medication.
• You will lead and provide professional guidance to a team of pharmacists and technicians based at the Newsam Centre to deliver an efficient pharmacy service alongside the Lead Technicians. This will include undertaking line management responsibility for Clinical Pharmacists, Band 6 / Specialist Clinical Pharmacists, Band 7 pharmacists and mentor other pharmacists in the Trust (including rotational trainees/undergraduates) as required.
• As part of an excellent teaching organisation, you will have a responsibility to educate and develop the pharmacy and wider healthcare workforce.

Main duties of the job

• Participate in the on-call and weekend rota working at one of our inpatient sites.
• You will have a 60:40 split of clinical to service development/management responsibilities
• Participate in the medicines information rota.

We also have a bank department, offering variety of roles in nursing, allied health professions, healthcare support worker and administration clerical. Permanent employees are automatically added to bank.

Fixed Term Contracts for existing NHS Employees – temporary contracts for employees of LYPFT, or colleagues joining from another NHS Trust, will be offered on a secondment basis wherever possible. In the event this is not possible, an FTC would be issued and this would require a break in service of two weeks.

The purpose of a temporary is role could be for maternity cover, temporary funding or some other reason. At the end of which the need for the temporary work will cease. Temporary roles can stop, be extended and/or made permanent at any point during the period of work. Should the role become permanent then the post-holder will be informed of the process to be followed to convert the position to a permanent one.
