Advanced Cardiac Physiologist - Site Lead

Now, we're inviting an advanced and experienced physiologist to lead our Cardiac Rhythm Management Unit at Charing Cross Hospital. Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, where you'll handle a full spectrum of investigations, including ECGs for Inherited Cardiac conditions, 12 lead holters, conduction system pacing, electrophysiology procedures, complex devices.

With our large cardiac rhythm management program, you'll have the chance to push boundaries in the field. While this post holder will be predominantly based at Charing Cross Hospital, we encourage and support training and development initiatives and work across our sites will be expected.

On top of all this, we're offering an extra 10% of your basic salary as part of our recruitment and retention premium (subject to terms and conditions). To make your transition smoother, we also provide a generous relocation package.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide leadership and supervise junior CRM physiologists, Physiology Associates and Cardiographers at Charing Cross hospital, which includes delegating tasks and ensuring the team is working to high professional standards
  • Performing a broad range of routine and advanced cardiac physiology clinical-technical procedures and techniques including Holter analysis, Exercise Tolerance Testing and Pacing services.
  • Providing organised and efficient clinical-technical input and output for diagnostic investigation services
  • Supervising and training junior staff and trainees in specialised cardiac physiology techniques.
  • Maintaining standards and quality in clinical-technical services, including equipment maintenance and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support the service with IQIPS accreditation quality standards.

Person Specification
Education
  • Qualified as a Cardiac [Clinical] Physiologist (BSc degree or equivalent)
  • Higher academic qualification [IBHRE, BHRS, BSE ] or equivalent experience to this level
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development education in appropriate field(s)
  • HCPC registration as a clinical scientist
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience in Cardiac Physiology, with at least 2 years specialising in a specialist field
  • Expertise and significant experience in the techniques listed under 'Skills & Abilities' above
  • 2 years plus experience leading clinical teams
Skills
  • Being fully competent at ECG recording & interpretation, exercise ECG stress testing and ambulatory ECG monitoring
  • Having particular competence, specialised knowledge, advanced practitioner level skills and experience in at least one of the following: Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory techniques or Implantable Device follow-up or Invasive Arrhythmia Therapy/electrophysiology or Echocardiography
  • Ability to manage own workload, as well as that of others
  • Ability to train other staff in the post-holder's specialist clinical-technical field(s)
  • A level of expertise in another of the above specialist areas of Cardiac Physiology
  • Some supervisory experience
