Job summary

HCA UK London Bridge Hospital Laboratory is seeking an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join the Blood Sciences Laboratory on a fixed-term 14‑month contract. You will work across Haematology and Biochemistry, supporting a 24‑hour service with a focus on accuracy and timely result reporting.

Join a multidisciplinary team in a private hospital setting with strong emphasis on quality standards, CPD, and professional development, contributing to patient care across complex diagnostics.

Qualifications

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Multidisciplinary experience within Blood Sciences.
  • Strong knowledge of Haematology and Biochemistry practices.

Responsibilities

  • Process laboratory samples accurately across Haematology and Biochemistry.
  • Interpret, validate and report results in a timely manner.
  • Support day-to-day operation of the Pathology department alongside the Service Lead.
  • Maintain quality standards through document control, stock management and equipment maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with Specimen Reception and wider laboratory teams to ensure a seamless service.

Working across Haematology, Biochemistry and Specimen Reception, you’ll develop broad multidisciplinary expertise while supporting the efficient operation of the laboratory. Alongside analytical and diagnostic responsibilities, you’ll contribute to the day to day running of the department, helping to maintain quality standards, support service improvements and ensure timely, accurate results for clinicians and patients.
