Position Overview

A Vacancy at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. This post attracts a recruitment incentive of £2,000 pro rata (conditions apply).

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to join our friendly, hardworking team to assist with the running of the Microbiology service at Ipswich Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible as lead Biomedical Scientist for a specialist area.
  • Manages and coordinates the day to day activities of the team.
  • Leads on service improvement.
  • Processes specialist investigations and responsible for standard and quality of results.
  • Provides specialist advice to clinicians as to appropriateness of tests and timescales.
  • Provides specialist service such as training, advanced troubleshooting, and problem solving for the specialist area.
  • Works flexibly in reflection of service needs, which may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24‑hour, 7‑day per week service.
  • Regular contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals (including blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions).
