About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Adults Social Worker to join Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Learning Disability & Autism Team, based in Keynsham. The team provides high-quality, person-centred support to adults across the Bath and North East Somerset area.

This locum position offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time hours available, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. While elements of the role can be carried out remotely, you will be required to undertake community visits, so access to a car is essential.

You will deliver a blend of casework, reviews, and safeguarding activity, ensuring that adults with learning disabilities and autism receive effective, strengths-based social work interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake assessments, reviews and case management in line with the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.

Manage safeguarding enquiries and ensure that the wellbeing and safety of adults are promoted at all times.

Work collaboratively with service users, carers, families, and partner agencies to provide integrated and person-centred support.

Maintain clear and accurate records, reports and documentation to inform decision-making and ensure compliance with professional standards.

Contribute to team meetings, case discussions and service development activities.

About You

You will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. You will bring strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred practice.

Degree or Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).

Registration with Social Work England.

Demonstrable experience within Adult Social Care, ideally in Learning Disability and Autism services.

Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and adult safeguarding procedures.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Access to a car for travel within the local area.

Previous experience in a local authority or multidisciplinary setting.

Familiarity with outcome-focused practice and strengths-based approaches.
