Job Description
Initial focus : Adults MASH Team
Oldham’s Adult Social Care service is looking for a seasoned social‑work leader who can parachute into priority teams, steady the ship and embed best practice. Your first mission : stabilise and strengthen our Adults Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) —then pivot to other teams across ASC as needs shift.
Big impact, fast – step into the frontline of adult safeguarding and improve outcomes from day one.
Hybrid & flexible – blend office presence for partner liaison with remote‑working efficiency.
Broad remit – once MASH is on solid footing, you’ll lend your expertise to hospital discharge, locality and review teams—no two months the same.
Supportive leadership – work closely with Heads of Service who welcome fresh ideas and back decisive action.
Lead, motivate and mentor a multidisciplinary Adults MASH team : social workers, nurses, police and partner agencies.
Streamline triage, decision‑making and Section 42 pathways to meet KPI timeframes.
Drive reflective practice sessions, performance clinics and QA audits.
Forge productive relationships with health, housing, police, voluntary sector and safeguarding partners.
Act as a peripatetic manager for other ASC teams—plugging gaps, coaching new Team Managers and delivering service‑improvement projects as required.
Social Work England registration and a recognised social‑work qualification.
Management experience in adult safeguarding, MASH or comparable frontline / duty settings.
Proven track record of lifting team performance, reducing backlogs and embedding strength‑based, person‑centred practice.
Confident partnership‑builder with the credibility to influence at senior multi‑agency forums.
Flexibility and resilience to switch contexts quickly while keeping quality high.
Start : ASAP – 3‑month initial contract, with strong likelihood of extension.
Hours : 37 hrs pw, Monday–Friday (compressed or flexible patterns considered).
Rate : Competitive day rate or G12 equivalent (inside IR35).
Location : Oldham Civic Centre / hybrid (minimum two office days during MASH assignment).
