Job Title: Adult Speech and Language Therapist
Banding: Band 6/7
Location: Llandudno
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £26.00–£32.00 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time
Duration: 3 months (with the option to extend)

Job Overview

We are urgently seeking a skilled and motivated Adult Speech and Language Therapist to join clinical services in Llandudno. This locum role covers both Stroke Rehabilitation within Llandudno Hospital and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) across Conwy and Denbighshire.

The successful candidate will provide essential input to adults recovering from stroke, delivering high-quality assessment and intervention within both inpatient and community settings. Dysphagia competency is essential for this position. This role offers an exciting opportunity for Band 6 or Band 7 therapists looking to work within well-established, supportive MDT environments across acute and community stroke pathways.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing difficulties following stroke.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapy across inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation and community ESD services.

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams across hospital and community settings.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and service standards.
  • Contribute to MDT meetings, discharge planning, and ongoing clinical reviews.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
  • Proven experience working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Essential dysphagia competencies for independent practice.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across varied clinical settings.
  • A proactive, reflective approach to service delivery and professional development.
