Adult’s Social Worker
Team: LD
Location: Leeds
Job Purpose & Context
Responsible for providing a high quality and comprehensive social work service to adults, carers and the community in accordance with statutory guidelines and the Authority’s needs, policies and practices. Responsible for managing a caseload involving high levels of challenging and complexity including the assessment and management of risk.
Accountabilities
- Undertake a wide range of complex assessments including Community Care and Best Interest Assessments and construct innovative and cost-effective solutions
- Carry out Safeguarding investigations within multi-agency procedures
- Carry out risk assessments and identify needs and options
- Using a person-centred approach, develop and maintain effective relationships with service users, their families and carers enabling them to make informed choices
- Promote independence and early intervention, helping resolve conflict where needed
- Contribute to the enhanced screening of new referrals and existing service users
- Work in courts with appropriate support to obtain and implement court orders
- Contribute to the development of practice and services
- Carry out specific pieces of work on cases that are allocated to other teams
- Undertake the Practice Educator Level 2 role
- Participate in the Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) rota where qualified
- Undertake the office duty role as required
Skills, knowledge & experience
- Considerable experience working in a statutory setting
- Planning, managing, prioritising and evaluating work with service users
- Providing a high level of effective written and verbal communication
- Overcoming resistance and exercising assertiveness where appropriate
- Negotiating, challenging and managing conflict
- Solving problems and innovating to promote positive change
- Supporting service plans
- Maintaining accurate service user records, assessments and following policy and procedure
- Chairing multi agency meetings and representing the Authority in a professional capacity
- Supervising, supporting, encouraging and advising qualified and non-qualified staff
- Using reflective practice techniques to critically analyse information to inform decision making and planning

- DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
- Social Work England registration
- Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
- Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
- Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
- Possess knowledge of service needs.
- Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
- Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
- Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
