A leading NHS trust in Greater London seeks an experienced Emergency Nurse to deliver high standards of care in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will benefit from structured mentorship and unique secondment opportunities, including integration into pioneering community emergency services. Candidates must have over six months of acute post-registration experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle challenging scenarios effectively. This position offers a dynamic learning environment and significant professional growth.
Barts Health is the largest NHS trust in the UK, it boasts 3 emergency departments, one of which is the Royal London Hospital. We are a major trauma centre and hyper acute stroke unit providing urgent specialist treatment to North East London and beyond. We are an innovative team and work closely with our research colleagues to integrate pioneering, world class care and treatments, developing new pathways and services to provide an efficient, patient centred approach to emergency medicine.
We offer a structured orientation and ongoing mentorship support to guide your progress through the early stages of your Emergency nursing career. We follow the RCN national emergency nursing framework competencies. Our experienced PDN and senior nurse team will support you in achieving these competencies at level one, with a mapped pathway into our ED and trauma courses at level 2. Our Department offers the successful candidate a unique learning environment to enable the achievement of your learning objectives.
The department is also able to offer several exciting secondment prospects including the Physician Response Unit. This opportunity, unique to our department, incorporates a nurse into the pre‑hospital MDT response unit. Nurses who successfully pass their development programme will be integrated into our sister service the REACH (Rapid Emergency Assessment Coordination HUB) – a pioneering service offering emergency care in the community. We encourage nurse champions to take a lead in an area of care that interests you and support the team in project work for quality improvement.
When submitting your application, in your supporting statement please describe a time you have had to prioritise care for multiple patients in a fast‑paced clinical environment. Explain how you made decisions, what tools or systems supported you, and how you achieved a positive outcome.
