Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust in Knowsley and St Helens is seeking a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to develop clinical skills within our adult community team. You will assess and treat adults with communication and swallowing difficulties in clinics, homes, care homes and wards.

You will receive regular supervision from senior therapists, opportunities for development in dysphagia and AAC, and work with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care.

Qualifications

• Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration (or eligible).
• Experience in adult community services is desirable.
• Good communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate Speech and Language Therapy interventions for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
• Manage and prioritise an allocated caseload with supervision when needed.
• Deliver evidence-based assessment and intervention for acquired communication disorders and dysphagia.
• Work with adults with stroke, Parkinson's, MND, dementia and other neurological conditions.
• Provide education and support to carers and MDT members.
• Participate in service development, audits and quality improvement.
