Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Adoption service as an Assistant Team Manager in a part-time capacity. You will support the Team Manager, supervise social workers, and contribute to high-quality services for children in care and those requiring protection.

You will lead practice improvements, maintain safeguarding standards, and ensure children’s voices are central to decisions while collaborating with partners across health, education and social care.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Minimum of three years' post-qualification experience within a statutory children's social care environment. Knowledge of adoption would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support the Team Manager in the leadership, management and supervision of social work staff.
• Provide supervision, guidance and professional support to qualified and unqualified team members.
• Act as a resource for staff managing complex cases and safeguarding concerns.
• Manage elements of the team's duty system and help ensure continuity of service delivery.
• Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure robust care planning for children.
• Support induction, mentoring, training and professional development activities.
• Monitor performance, quality standards and case recording to drive excellent practice.
• Help to ensure the views, wishes and experiences of children and young people remain central to service delivery.
