Responsibilities

  • Effectively uses the Patient Administration System to record dates for Admission.
  • Validate waiting lists and work with the Elective Access co-ordinator.
  • Monitor and action patient pathway targets like 18 week RTT.
  • Maintain communication with Consultants and Secretaries regarding waiting lists.
  • Add patients to the Bluespier system and keep it updated.
  • Replace cancelled patients to ensure full theatre utilisation.
  • Receive patients and input on booked admissions from outpatient clinics.
  • Assist in enhancing service provision changes.
  • Enable and add clinic appointment slots using outpatient management.
  • Handle admission cancellations sensitively, providing reasons to patients.
Job description
Overview

The post holder will assist in ensuring that the effective and efficient co-ordination of elective waiting list admissions is undertaken, maintaining a high quality service to all users. This will involve validation of waiting lists and liaison with others to maintain efficient waiting times. The post holder would require a flexible and proactive approach to the role.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively uses the Patient Administration System to record dates for Admission and inform patients’ relevant details.
  • To validate waiting lists and work with the Elective Access co-ordinator to ensure that waiting lists are appropriately managed and booked within their expected date to be seen.
  • Monitor and action patient pathway targets i.e 18 week RTT, diagnostic and cancer targets. Implement the Trust Access Policy.
  • Maintain excellent communication with Consultants and Secretaries regarding waiting list/booking and capacity issues to ensure optimum use of resources.
  • Add patients to the Bluespier system and ensure this is reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Actively seek to replace patients when cancelled to ensure full utilisation of theatre lists.
  • Receives patients and input on the Patient Administration System booked/planned admissions sent directly from outpatient clinics.
  • Assist the Team leader and elective access Co-ordinator in ensuring any changes which would enhance service provision are undertaken.
  • Clinic creation, enabling & adding clinic appointment slots using outpatient diary management.
  • Deals with admission cancellations sensitively, giving reasons to the patient for cancellation.
