Job purpose

Are you a good communicator with a great eye for detail and looking for an opportunity to support key Scottish Government priorities?

You will join the Customer Service Delivery team in Inverurie, part of the Rural and Inspections Division (RPID). RPID has around 600 staff in 17 area offices throughout Scotland, providing a range of services that manage the implementation of agricultural, environmental and rural policies, conduct inspections, process applications for funding and provide high‑quality customer service.

This is a Modern Apprentice opportunity for two Administration Officers. You will support the business in a variety of duties, including the delivery of high‑quality customer service for our farmers and customers, processing subsidy scheme grants and providing effective business support for the office.

During the first 12 months the successful candidate will be expected to gain a relevant Level 2 Business Administration SVQ qualification. Support will be provided by an internal assessor who will work with you on a monthly basis, and time will be made available to pursue your qualification.

We encourage school/college leavers, providing an excellent opportunity to start a Civil Service career while gaining an SVQ qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deal with telephone, written and face‑to‑face enquiries from internal and external customers, including assisting with registration and navigation of RPID online systems.
• Reception duties and dealing with visitors to the office.
• General administrative duties, including filing, acknowledgement and onward processing of mail, franking outgoing post and maintaining spreadsheet information.
• Administrative processing in support of the Seed Potato Classification Scheme (preparing documents for export of potatoes and used farm machinery).
• Receipting, data capture, assessment and authorisations of applications and claims under a range of agricultural and environmental schemes.
• Use Rural Payments and Services and other IT systems to assess information submitted by businesses and their applications, including data capture.
• Provide efficient, effective and proactive support to the team.
