Job summary

A local NHS Trust in Southend-on-Sea is seeking an administrative assistant for the Pathology Department. The role involves providing comprehensive administrative support to the histology team, coordinating MDT meetings, processing patient materials, and managing general administrative tasks. Responsibilities

  • Support the office team with co-ordination of MDTs, collating patients reports and slides required.
  • Complete the requests for material to be sent away to external sources, meeting deadlines and supporting any audits and appropriate tracking where necessary.
  • Support the Department Histology cancer tracker with any Two Week Wait (2WW) escalations, supporting the KPI and department turn around time (TAT).
  • Open and action all income and outgoing post.
  • Completion of template referral letters.
  • Completion of general administrative tasks; scanning request forms onto the LIMS system and monitoring the filing/shredding system.
  • Managing the return and appropriate tracking of patient's material.

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as an administrative assistant in our Pathology Department.

You will provide a comprehensive administrative support to the Senior Administrative Officer, Consultant Histopathologists, Junior Doctors, Office Manager and Medical Secretaries and wider Office Team in Histopathology. The Administrative Assistant will work as an integral member of the histology team, providing administrative and clerical assistance supporting the MDT process, referrals and general administrative tasks. The job description is not exhaustive and requires the post holder to be flexible to meet the needs of the developing service.
