Administrative assistant supports the engineering department in day-to-day work with a start to finish approach encompassing project creation, document administration and project billing. The role will also involve both internal and external client interactions with a need for proactive thought and action.

We are looking for independent thinkers motivated to ask questions whenever in doubt and driven to help strengthen a successful team of Administrators and Engineers.

This is a 14 months Fixed Term Contract for Mat cover.

What You Will Do:
  • Be part of a welcoming team of Administrators under the direction of an Engineering Coordinator.
  • Helps administer incoming work through project creation and client communication.
  • Responsible for assisting with the administration of client emails and submissions, whilst taking the initiative to speak to clients by phone whenever possible to streamline communication.
  • Ensures proper billing actions are taken and processes followed to support the Engineering Coordinator.
  • Work with the ABS Client Portal and gain an understanding of internal processes required to maintain a timely workflow and educate clients in Portal functionality.
  • Proactively asks questions whenever necessary.
  • Supports colleagues with surplus work when required.

  • 0–2 years of previous related experience

  • The ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • A working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems (internal candidates only)
  • Valid right to work in the UK
Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to a department Manager, Supervisor or above.
