Overview

We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the activities of an exciting new centre, Great British Chemicals (GBC). This is a fantastic opportunity to undertake a key role within this ambitious flagship UKRI project of national and global significance.

Great British Chemicals is a newly founded and internationally pioneering interdisciplinary research centre that brings together world‑leading researchers, industrial stakeholders, professional bodies and governments together to drive forward a sustainable chemicals manufacturing community sustainability through knowledge exchange (KE) and the co‑design of creative solutions to national and global sustainability challenges. GBC is at the heart of the sustainable development theme within the United Kingdom, helping to accelerate a just transition to low‑emissions chemicals manufacturing across the UK.

GBC will function around three cross‑cutting pillars of excellence:

Responsibilities
  • Support the activities of the GBC Core Management team as they carry out the main operations of the centre through the centre’s pipeline of projects.
  • Assist with various forms of work with partners from across the Centre’s national and international consortium, and with researchers from the University of Sheffield and nine other partner universities.
  • Organise and support regular meetings, update information on a range of platforms, and take detailed minutes.
  • Organise events, both internally and those involving the public and centre partners.
  • Maintain a broad appreciation and understanding of key administration functions at a department and University level and liaise professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work in collaboration with the central team to ensure that GBC fulfils its overarching objective of accelerating the UK’s transition to a sustainable chemicals industry.
