A local authority in the UK is seeking an Administrative Assistant for Early Years in Stornoway. This role involves supporting the Early Years Manager and managing administrative tasks related to nursery fee collection, grant applications, and statistical reporting. Candidates should possess an HNC in Administration or equivalent experience, alongside strong organisational and communication skills. The position is fixed-term, maternity cover, and offers a salary of £29,675 - £30,813 per annum including a Distant Islands Allowance.

You will follow the Comhairle’s financial procedures in regard to duties, organise training, maintain office databases and administer Comhairle nursery fee collection. Support departmental staff, Partnership members and Early Learning & Childcare providers on all administrative aspects of service delivery.
You will provide administrative support to the Early Years Manager and inform them of applications for grant, assessing and making recommendations on straightforward applications for funding. Obtain and report on statistical information submitted by ELC providers and liaise with, and provide specific advice and general assistance to ELC providers, Partnership Members, parents and members of the public.
Working knowledge of financial and administrative procedures, including the ability to analyse financial and statistical information is required. You must have excellent communication skills, be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
You must hold an HNC Administration or have equivalent experience, and have experience of working with figures and analysing financial information.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children (Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot).
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade.
