Overview
The General Surgery directorate is appointing an Admin Service Manager. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to raise service delivery and leadership within a dynamic, fast‑paced specialty.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate day‑to‑day administrative operations of the service.
- Support delivery of key performance, quality and financial targets.
- Contribute to service development in line with directorate plans.
- Improve patient pathways through efficient administrative systems.
- Provide a full and comprehensive administration service for the General Surgery directorate, including line management.
- Provide administrative support to projects within the services.
- Review and optimise administrative structure and processes to support key performance measures and comply with National and Trust targets.
- Ensure all staff work towards delivering high‑quality care to patients and meet national standards and patient experience measures.
- Monitor processes and procedures to ensure effective service delivery and maintain team competence and motivation.
- Support Operational Managers in delivering targets relating to elective recovery.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across the Trust, ensuring agreed quality metrics are achieved consistently.
- Support the Divisional Senior Management Team in developing and implementing an efficient waiting list service for the Trust.
- Implement and manage monitoring and administrative systems to achieve National and Local waiting time targets.
- Manage rotas, admin teams and patient waiting lists, overseeing all administrative and clerical processes.
- Provide senior support and expert knowledge to the team of waiting list coordinators and associated roles within the admin team.
- Provide senior support and expert knowledge of the RTT, data quality and robust rota coordination.
- Work alongside Theatre Scheduling Manager to support daily running of theatre lists and aid any escalations.
- Work with external stakeholders when required for managing waiting lists.
Qualifications
Experience of administrative leadership within a surgical or hospital environment; strong organisational and people management skills; proven ability to deliver performance targets; knowledge of national and Trust waiting time targets; NHS experience preferred.
