The Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary seeks adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate/graduate Finance courses. Adjuncts operate under faculty supervision, delivering course content, assessments, and feedback while aligning with W&M values.

We recruit for a pool to cover one or more courses; applicants may join the pool for ongoing opportunities. This part-time role is not eligible for benefits and requires successful background checks and transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Review course content, activities, assignments and assessments before term start.
• Prepare a syllabus with guidance from Area Head and Lead instructor.
• Coordinate course activities with Area Head, lead instructor, and program leadership.
• Promote inclusive excellence and academic integrity.
• Support student learning using the institution's learning management system.
• Support documented student accommodations.
• Meet designated course instruction guidelines and policies.
• Maintain open communication with Area Head, faculty, and staff.
• Provide timely and specific feedback to students.
• Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
• Grade assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Offer weekly office hours for consultations.
• Submit final grades and end-of-semester feedback per policy.
• Complete training and orientation before term start date.

The Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary is recruiting a pool of adjunct faculty to teach one or more undergraduate/graduate courses in Finance.

Adjunct faculty serve a vital role and are valued members of the Raymond A. Mason School of Business and the William & Mary community. Under the guidance of the Area Head, adjunct faculty members teach courses, facilitate course activities/assessments and provide students with timely feedback, while promoting W&M values. Adjunct faculty are provided with professional learning opportunities and are invited to attend on-campus events

Position duties include:

• Review course content, activities, activities, assignments and assessments prior to the term start date.
• Prepare a syllabus (with guidance from the Area Head and/or Lead instructor).
• Coordinate course activities with the Area Head and/or lead instructor, and the Associate Dean for the program as necessary.
• Promote inclusive excellence and academic integrity.
• Support student learning using W&M’s learning management system.
• Support documented student accommodations.
• Meet all designated course instruction guidelines and adhere to the academic credit hour policies & guidelines.
• Maintain frequent and open communication with Area Head, other faculty and staff through email, mail, telephone, and any other medium deemed appropriate.
• Provide students with timely and specific feedback.
• Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
• Grade assignments and exams in a timely manner (48 – 72 hours).
• Offer weekly office hours for individual or group consultation.
• Submit final grades according to William & Mary policy and the individual program calendars.
• Submit end-of-semester feedback and reflection form.
• Complete all required training and orientation activities prior to the term start date.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree directly related to the discipline OR a Bachelor’s Degree with extensive and significant experience related to the discipline.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to incorporate technology in education processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or other doctoral degree directly related to the discipline.
• Expertise and relevant professional experience in a closely related field.
• Previous experience providing instruction in an academic or corporate setting.
• Computer proficiency and experience using Blackboard or a similar learning management system.
