Acute Adult Consultant Psychiatrist
Job Responsibilities
- Provide expert psychiatric evaluation diagnosis and treatment to adults requiring acute psychiatric intervention.
- Conduct thorough assessments and create tailored treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Administer and oversee Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983 applications.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records in compliance with clinical governance standards.
- Lead and mentor junior medical staff fostering a collaborative clinical environment.
- Participate in continuing professional development and adhere to the standards set by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Engage in clinical audits and research projects to enhance service delivery and psychiatric standards.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss patient care and optimize treatment approaches.
- Communicate effectively with patients families and external stakeholders to ensure holistic care.
Essential Qualifications
- Full GMC registration.
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- On (or about to join) the GMC specialist register for either forensic or general adult psychiatry.
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
- Good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists with up-to-date appraisals.
- Recognized medical degree (e.g. MBBS MBChB) from a GMC-approved institution.
- Completion of Core Psychiatry Training (CT1-CT3) and Higher Specialist Training (ST4-ST6) leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
Desired Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the field of adult psychiatry.
- Proven track record in working within NHS and private sector mental health services.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric diagnosis and multidisciplinary team leadership.
- Knowledge and experience in applying mental health legislation.
