Job description

Our client, an established organisation in the insurance and financial services sector, is seeking a Senior Manager to join its actuarial team on a fixed-term basis. This role offers the chance to contribute to group-level actuarial work, support key processes and standards, and influence how actuarial insights are applied across the business.

You will work closely with a collaborative, high-performing team, engaging with stakeholders, supporting technical discussions, and overseeing actuarial methodologies across various functions. The role provides exposure to both operational and strategic activities, offering a broad view of how actuarial work shapes senior-level decision-making..

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the governance and maintenance of group-wide actuarial methodologies, ensuring approaches are applied consistently and appropriately across the organisation.
  • Contribute to assumption-setting activities, including the review of experience data, market trends, and other key inputs used across various actuarial models.
  • Review technical proposals and changes from different teams, offering challenge, guidance, and clarity on potential impacts to core actuarial outputs and performance metrics.
  • Assist in the coordination of cross-functional projects, helping to align actuarial perspectives with wider business objectives and supporting effective communication among senior leadership.
  • Participate in group initiatives such as process enhancements, methodological updates, and operational improvements within the actuarial function.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior colleagues, helping to foster a supportive environment focused on quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
About You
  • A qualified actuary (or an experienced actuarial professional with equivalent expertise) with a strong background in technical actuarial work.
  • Good understanding of major regulatory and financial reporting frameworks used in insurance or related sectors.
  • Experience in reserving, modelling, or broader actuarial analysis, ideally within a group, corporate, or multi-market setting.
  • Familiarity with data tools or programming languages is an advantage.
