Deloitte is recruiting a Graduate Analyst in the Capital Market Group within Actuarial Insurance in the UK. This role focuses on the mathematically complex, programming-based actuarial work and the development of XSG, Deloitte’s in-house economic scenario generator, to support client modelling.
You will run and enhance XSG tools, research improvements to modelling approaches, and deliver scenarios and training to clients. The role offers hybrid working and a path toward Actuary qualification.
In Actuarial we are problem solvers and strategic thinkers, who use mathematical skills to help measure the probability and risk of future events. Our work helps individuals to plan for the future , and it's always challenging and interesting.
As part of the Capital Market Group team, you will be involved in the more mathematically complex and programming-based roles of actuarial and banking work, requiring high levels of quantitative skills to solve challenging problems on behalf of our clients. There is a focus on research and development, with the team being responsible for the enhancement of Deloitte’s economic scenario modelling suite: XSG, which helps us to determine probability.
You will also have opportunities to participate in the same projects as the wider life insurance team, allowing for a broad actuarial experience. The Capital Market Group team sits within the actuarial life insurance team, and together we serve a wide range of clients, across life and general insurance, asset managers and banks. Past projects have included: fast-paced mergers and acquisitions advisory, accounting transformations, and modelling impacts on insurers of risks arising from credit markets, operations and sustainability/climate change.
Capital Market Group, like the wider life insurance team, fosters an open and friendly working environment that naturally allows everyone to learn from the wide range of experts within the practice.
You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in a maths or finance related degree (this could include but not limited to: including Chemistry, Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Physics, Economics, Engineering and Computer Science) and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake . An A-level (or equivalent) in Maths is encouraged but not essential.
No prior experience is required ; however, we advise that you show some understanding of the insurance industry and the role of actuaries within it.

One of Capital Market Groups responsibilities is using, maintaining and developing XSG, which is Deloitte’s in-house actuarial economic scenario generation software. This produces economic scenarios for clients to use in later modelling processes.
You will be running and enhancing XSG's tools and methodologies, including opportunities to research potential improvements to modelling approaches and writing research papers on these. You will also deliver economic scenarios and training sessions to our clients, as well as any bespoke modelling adjustments and changes as requested by clients. This will involve handling a variety of market data, as part of your work estimating, reviewing and validating a range of model inputs and outputs.
Capital Market Group also supports the wider life insurance team on a variety of projects. For instance, you may be advising insurance clients on the level of capital to hold and their capital structure, and in doing so helping to optimise their internal modelling processes. Or you may be supporting financial change programmes by identifying inefficiencies in our client’s actuarial processes and collaborating with their people, to design and embed both better ways of working and new technology /solutions.
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you're in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.
All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team. You can find further information on our parent and carer policies here.
In September you will attend our Analyst Induction Programme (AIP) alongside your Technology & Transformation Analyst peer group to learn about our company, culture and how we work. The programme will be a mix of in-person and online learning that takes place over several weeks and includes engaging talks, group activities and immersive simulation challenges.
On a day-to-day basis, you will receive on-the-job training through your work with different actuarial colleagues and colleagues in other parts of the firm on varied client and internal projects. There are also formal training courses and e-learning to help you develop broader business skills.
A role in Actuarial Insurance offers stimulating actuarial work, alongside consulting opportunities to engage closely and directly with clients, plus a strong internal support network and a friendly open culture.
We provide Graduate Analysts with the resources needed to support them through their journey to qualify as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries . Students currently look to pass thirteen exams as well as gaining three years of appropriate experience in the industry. Full qualification usually takes between 3 and 6 years.
If you are offered a role, you will be assigned a buddy who has been in your position as a graduate joining Deloitte as an Analyst. They will act as an informal point of contact, answering questions and offering insight and guidance before you join and throughout your journey at Deloitte.
We operate a strict one application per year policy across our Early Careers opportunities. We recommend only submitting an application for a role that you feel is right for you.
