Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 10:30 to 15:00)

Responsible to: Senior Carer/Care Home Manager

Taliesin is a residential home located in Tonypandy for 18 residents, providing person-centred care in a comfortable, homely environment. It is situated centrally near the high street, river and train station with a garden and shared spaces used as home by residents.

Job Summary

To plan, implement and review activities to meet the social, physical, psychological and spiritual needs of our residents.

Responsibilities
  • With a creative and fun approach, design, plan and maintain a stimulating programme of leisure pursuits and social events for groups and individuals.
  • Provide a positive and inspiring attitude to help residents feel good, remembering treasured memories and creating new ones.
  • Produce a weekly social events programme and ensure it is advertised within the home and on social media where applicable.
  • Ensure a tailored activity care plan for each resident is in place within three weeks of admission and reviewed regularly.
  • Consult with and assess each resident to identify social and recreational requirements based on likes, dislikes, abilities and needs.
  • Provide in-room activities for residents who are confined or prefer to stay in their rooms (e.g., music, reading).
  • Organise social and recreational events within the home and local community.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of the activities programme.
  • Liaise and work with the Care Team on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the spiritual needs of residents are met.
  • Build and maintain a stock of social and recreational equipment (craft materials, board games, jigsaws, cards, needlework, paints, gardening equipment, etc.).
  • Provide inspiration, ideas and support to the Care Team for group and one-to-one events.
  • Maintain infection control standards within the home and assist residents with infection control needs.
  • Comply with CIW standards and contribute to improving the quality of residents’ lives.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Attend planned Supervisions and maintain continued professional development.
  • Meet all mandatory training requirements as set out in Taliesin policies.
  • A full driving licence would be useful but is not essential.
  • Previous experience in a social care setting is beneficial but not essential; eagerness to learn about participating in social care is required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with all persons, showing respect and empowerment.
