Job summary

Shaw Healthcare is seeking an Activities Champion for New Elmcroft, a 60-bed care home in Shoreham-by-Sea (near Brighton). The role focuses on organising engaging activities for residents, coordinating outings, and ensuring wellbeing.

Hours are 30 per week, 9:30am–5:30pm, with alternate weekends, at a traditional care home offering nursing, dementia, residential, and respite care. Salary is £13.72 per hour, with a comprehensive package including holidays and employee benefits as part of Shaw

Qualifications

• Experience organising activities for adults in a care setting.
• Ability to engage residents and tailor activities to preferences.

Responsibilities

• Form an activity profile for each service user through liaison with care staff.
• Enhance residents' wellbeing by understanding likes, interests and needs.
• Ensure the safe and proper use of all equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of residents' activities.
• Liaise with the senior nurse on duty regarding outings.
• Research prospective outings considering access and toileting facilities.
• Liaise with senior care assistants regarding medical or nursing information.

Job description

This will include, but not limited to:
• To formulate an activity profile for each individual service user through liaison with care staff, in line with their abilities and preferences
• To enhance the overall wellbeing of residents by understanding their likes, interests and needs
• To ensure the safe and proper use of all equipment.
• To maintain accurate and legible records in respect of service users' activities.
• To liaise with the senior nurse on duty with regard to outings.
• To research all prospective outings in respect of access and toileting facilities.
• To liaise with senior care assistants in respect of relative medical or nursing care information regarding service users.
