Job summary

Ramboll is seeking an Acoustic Consultant or Experienced Graduate Acoustic Consultant to join the London team. You will work on buildings, environment and transportation projects across the UK and beyond, supporting decarbonisation, refurbishment of listed buildings and vibration isolation works.

The role requires some relevant acoustic consultancy experience, a related degree or IOA diploma, and willingness to attend site work.

Qualifications

  • Experience in acoustic consultancy, either industrial placement or postgraduate.
  • Familiarity with UK acoustic design standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with UK and international acoustics teams and Ramboll Environment/Health and Buildings groups.
  • Communicate acoustic design to non-specialists and local planning authorities.
  • Undertake baseline noise and vibration surveys.
  • Support site inspections and building acoustics testing (sound insulation, reverberation, STIPA).
  • Perform acoustic modelling (CADNA/A, Ease, Odeon).
  • Contribute to technical reports and environmental statements.
  • Manage own workload with mentor support.

Job description

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Acoustic Consultant, or Experienced Graduate Acoustic Consultant,to join our growing team in London. You will be working on projects across Buildings, Environment and Transportation sectors in the UK and further afield.

In London, our teamis currently supporting thedecarbonisation and refurbishment of listed buildings on Regent Street, supporting the long-term conservation of St Paul's Cathedralandthe vibration isolation of multiple buildings from LondonUnderground. Across the UKand further afield, we are supportinga variety of development sectors from power and infrastructure, to manufacturing and data storage, as well as residential, educational, healthcare and heritage.

To succeed in this role, you must have some relevant experience in acoustic consultancy either as part of an industrial placement year or post-graduate. You must also be diligent, enthusiastic to learn, and a team player able to support our extensive and interesting portfolio of work. Flexibility will also be requiredto attend site work.

You will be part of our award-winninganddynamic UK team. You will also be part ofa thriving internationalspecialistgroup of over 100 acousticians in over 12 countries. In the UK, the teamoperatesacrossfouroffices (Cambridge, London,Birminghamand Manchester).

Wewin a third ofourwork from external clients,with two-thirds providingcollaborative acoustic consultancy support toour own environmental, transport and building engineers. We deliver a wide variety of environmental and buildings projects including new schools and hospitals and sustainable places for people to live and work, large scale residential-led masterplansand high-profilelandmark buildingsinLondon and beyond.In previousyearsour acousticians have worked as far afield as the Falkland Islands.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

Consultancy liaison and team-working withour UK and international acoustics team, and withRamboll'sEnvironment and Health and Buildings teams.

Effective consultation and communication of acoustic design to non-specialists and local planning authorities.

Undertaking baseline noise and vibration surveys.

Supportoursite inspections and building acoustic testing (sound insulation, reverberation, STIPA)on Building projects.

Undertakingtechnical assessment and acoustic modelling (CADNA/A, Ease, Odeon).

Contributing to technical reports ranging from Acoustic Engineering Reports to Environmental Statements and supporting technical appendices.

Effectively managing own workloadwith support from our team and your mentor.

Based in London, you will be supported by a motivated and capableUKteam of acousticians.From the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow withourcompany.

Working alongside experienced acousticians, you will receive direct guidance to build your technical knowledge and learn how to practically apply UKStandards and Guidelines (for exampleBS 4142, BS 8233,andBS 5228).Your growth will be accelerated through shadowing of more experienced members of our team, tailored internal and external training, and through cross-discipline working (particularly with environmental specialists).

For this role, we believe your starting point is:

Acoustic related Degree, IOA Diploma or Masters’ Degree.

Full driving licence.

Some relevant experience in acoustic consultancywould be highly beneficial.

Preferably anAssociate Member of Institute of Acoustics (andworking towards MIOA).

Experiencein the use ofCADNA/A software, andArcGIS (or similar),would be beneficial.

Experience in the useof commonly applied Standards and Guidelines would be beneficial.
