About this role

This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We will provide an approximate number of hours you may be asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there's no obligation for you to accept the work offered. This opportunity is based in our Construction department at the state‑of‑the‑art CUBE Construction Centre and is a great opportunity to support our students in developing their maths skills and reaching their full potential. You will work closely with our friendly curriculum teams to deliver tailored support and interventions helping our learners build the confidence and ability they need to succeed in their studies and future careers.

You will focus on working with small groups of students guiding them through personalised learning strategies and assessment activities. You will track their progress, spot areas for improvement and put in place the right interventions to help every student move forward. You will also keep clear and accurate records, including registers and reports on attendance, progress and support given. This is a highly collaborative role where you will work side by side with our vocational tutors to ensure the support you offer is of high quality and fits the needs of our learners. You will also play a part in creating engaging resources and schemes of learning all while building strong positive relationships with students and encouraging their development every step of the way. Your work will have a real impact boosting student confidence, improving retention and attendance and helping more learners succeed.

By supporting their maths skills, you will be opening doors to further learning qualifications and exciting careers in the construction industry.

We are looking for someone that is passionate about supporting students and helping them achieve their potential. You will bring a strong understanding of maths, along with the ability to inspire and motivate students to succeed in their study programmes. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with learners and work collaboratively with curriculum teams. Organisation and attention to detail will be key, as you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate records, monitoring student progress, and reporting on interventions. You will also be proactive and adaptable, with the ability to identify and develop effective resources and learning strategies.

Your approach should be student‑focused, creative, and geared towards helping our learners overcome challenges and make progress. Experience working with small groups or mentoring students would be an advantage, as would familiarity with using online learning technologies and assessment methods. Above all, you'll be someone who thrives on supporting learners to grow, succeed, and develop the skills they need for their future.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) in Maths and English
  • Experience supporting students to achieve their goals
  • Background in an educational setting
  • Experience working with a diverse range of learners
  • Experience supporting both 16-19 and adult learners (19+)
