Accounts Semi Senior or Senior – Fareham

Clark Wood are currently working with a growing and ambitious accountancy practice in between Portsmouth and Southampton, who are looking to recruit a Semi-Senior and Senior Accountant to join their supportive and close-knit team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an AAT finalist / qualified or ACA / ACCA studying / part-qualified accountant, who is keen to broaden their technical skill set and progress quickly toward full qualification. As a Platinum Approved ACCA Employer, the firm places a strong emphasis on training, development, and long-term career progression.

Unlike larger firms where roles can be narrowly defined, this position offers exposure across accounts preparation, tax, VAT, and client advisory work. You will take ownership of your own client files while working closely with bookkeepers and accountants, reporting directly to the Practice Manager.

The role will include:

  • Preparation of year-end accounts, corporation tax, self-assessment, and property accounts
  • Supporting with VAT returns and bookkeeping transactions
  • Managing your own portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Acting as a day-to-day point of contact for clients and handling queries professionally
  • Identifying opportunities to add value beyond compliance and offering practical advice
  • Collaborating with colleagues and supporting the wider team
  • Contributing ideas to improve processes and service delivery
Ideal Candidate
  • AAT finalist / qualified or ACA / ACCA studying / part-qualified, with at least 2 years’ practice experience
  • Experienced in accounts preparation, VAT, self-assessment, and corporation tax
  • Familiar with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage (VT experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and confident problem-solving independently
  • A strong communicator with a client-focused approach
  • Ambitious, with a clear desire to progress and complete professional qualifications

This role offers full study support, exposure to a varied client base across multiple sectors, and the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded accountant within a supportive environment. The firm offers a competitive salary (DOE), a comprehensive benefits package including health plans and profit sharing, and a flexible 37.5‑hour working week with core hours between 9:30–4:30, including summer flexibility.

For more information, please contact Eleanor Snow at Clark Wood on 07375 801311 or email eleanor@clark-wood.co.uk

We also offer a £500 referral bonus for any successful introductions.
