Job summary

Identify Talent is seeking an Accounts Senior in accountancy practice. You will manage client portfolios, lead a small team of bookkeepers and trainees, own workflows and deliver high‑quality outsourced finance services, and play a key role in developing the function.

The role blends client delivery with leadership and planning. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day accounting, review month‑end and year‑end accounts, VAT returns, and act as the main client contact.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACA/ACCA or finalist/newly qualified.
• Strong bookkeeping and management accounts knowledge.
• Experience in a practice environment preferred.
• Organised, proactive, and able to meet multiple deadlines.
• Good client communication and mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting services for a varied client portfolio.
• Lead a small team of bookkeepers and trainees.
• Own workflows, task allocation and delivery timelines.
• Support the strategic planning of the outsourced finance function.
• Oversee bookkeeping tasks including reconciliations, ledgers, invoicing and expenses.
• Review month-end and year-end accounts; review VAT returns.
• Act as a key client contact and identify process improvements.
• Utilise accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS.

Are you a part‑qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) ready to step into a role with real responsibility and progression? As Accounts Senior, you’ll manage client portfolios, lead junior team members and play a key role in shaping how the finance function operates.

The Role

This hands‑on Accounts Senior role blends client delivery, team leadership and operational planning. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day workflows, ensure high‑quality outsourced finance services, and contribute to the strategic development of the function.

What You’ll Be Doing as Accounts Senior

• Managing day‑to‑day accounting services for a varied client portfolio
• Leading and developing a small team of bookkeepers and trainees
• Owning workflows, task allocation and delivery timelines
• Supporting the strategic planning of the outsourced finance function
• Overseeing bookkeeping tasks including reconciliations, ledgers, invoicing and expenses
• Reviewing month‑end and year‑end accounts
• Reviewing and submitting VAT returns
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
• Confidently using a range of accounting and practice management software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS etc.

About You

• ACA / ACCA part‑qualified, finalist or newly qualified
• Strong technical grounding in bookkeeping and management accounts
• Ideally experienced within a practice environment
• Organised, proactive and confident managing multiple deadlines
• Comfortable communicating with clients and supporting junior colleagues
• Keen to learn, develop and adopt new systems and technology
