Job summary

Mears Group in Gloucester is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our busy finance team. This full-time, permanent role involves handling a high volume of supplier invoices, data entry and resolving queries while maintaining accurate ledgers.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, with a focus on accuracy, organisation and timely payment processing. Prior accounts or ledger experience is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a customer service or administration role with confidence handling telephone and e-mail queries in a high volume environment.
• Strong IT and database skills in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Confident communication skills with the ability to build professional relationships.
• Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively.
• Accounts or ledger experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience using spreadsheets for data entry or reconciliation is desirable.
• AAT qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Answering phone queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Inputting a high volume of supplier invoices with speed and accuracy
• Managing central finance inboxes
• Opening and processing post
• Querying and resolving invoice and supplier issues
• Investigating and resolving supplier queries
• Maintaining the purchase ledger
• Data entry and statement reconciliation
• Working collaboratively with other departments
• Supporting ad hoc finance tasks as required
