A well-established 6 Partner accountancy practice in North Hertfordshire is looking for an Accounts Manager to join their expanding team. This is an ideal role for a proactive and ambitious accountant who enjoys working with a varied client base and leading teams to deliver high-quality work.

Your role as an Accounts Manager:

  • Manage a portfolio for a wide range of client sectors including Agriculture, Aerospace through to Leisure and Hospitality.
  • Manage multiple client engagements and prioritise competing demands.
  • Take ownership of WIP control and billing.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, including discussions on fees and service delivery.
  • Lead client meetings in the absence of a partner where appropriate.
  • Delegate and review work of junior staff and resolve issues prior to partner sign-off.
  • Support team development, complete appraisals and set objectives.
  • Stay up to date on relevant technical developments.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems in collaboration with partners.
  • Contribute to technical content and internal knowledge-sharing.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with 3+ years' post-qualification experience in practice.
  • Solid knowledge of accounts and tax, with the confidence to advise clients directly.
  • Experienced with accounting software such as IRIS, Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
