Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (CA/ACCA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in accounting systems and platforms used internally or for clients.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and sector-specific issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of client assignments, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounts and tax preparation.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients to gather information, provide updates, and explain outputs where required.
  • Attend client meetings to present financial information and address queries.
  • Onboard new clients including scoping, pricing, delivery and payment.
  • Fee proposals, billing and direct debit responsibilities.
  • Provide support and guidance to Assistants and Advisors as required, and review their work.
  • Schedule and allocate work within the portfolio, providing technical guidance as needed.
  • Stay up to date with developments in accounting and tax relevant to your responsibilities.

TC MMG are looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to join our growing practice in Scotland.

TC MMG are looking to expand this team and bring on an Accounts Manager who would be responsible for managing a portfolio of Accounts, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of all agreed outputs either directly to clients or to senior stakeholders.

This role allows the opportunity to work in our office locations, Dundee, Forfar, Montrose, Brechin, Perth, Kinross and Blairgowrie. This role comes with the potential for hybrid working, depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities of an Accounts Managerwill include:

  • Manage a portfolio of client assignments, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounts and tax preparation
  • Maintain direct communication with clients to gather information, provide updates, and explain outputs where required
  • Attend client meetings to present financial information and address queries
  • Onboard new clients and effectively integrate them dealing with everything including scoping, pricing, delivery and payment
  • Fee proposals, billing and direct debit responsibilities
  • Provide support, assistance, and cover for Assistants and Advisors as required, demonstrating the ability to undertake their responsibilities when necessary
  • Review work and provide regular feedback
  • Schedule and allocate work within the portfolio, providing technical guidance to Assistants and Advisors when needed
  • Stay up to date with developments in accounting and tax relevant to your responsibilities and ensure this knowledge is shared with the team
  • Keep informed about updates to software tools in use and train staff accordingly
  • Maintain a log of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and deliver training sessions to both staff and clients as appropriate
  • Ensure that all processes and checklists are followed and kept up to date
  • Ensure all statutory deadlines for accounts and tax return submissions are met
  • Oversee and contribute to the preparation and review of Accounts and tax work including relevant analyses, assumptions, and supporting explanations

About you

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA), and/or evidence of equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Proficient in the use of all relevant accounting systems and platforms used internally or on behalf of clients
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and in-depth knowledge of industry/sector-specific issues affecting clients
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and team members through various channels
  • Demonstrates professionalism, a helpful demeanour and enthusiasm in daily work
  • Manages time effectively and adheres to company policies and processes
