Finance/Accounts Assistant

Position: Full-time / Permanent

Salary: c£28k + study support if required

Join a Collaborative, centralised finance function supporting diverse clients

A well‑structured finance team, working with a portfolio of fast‑growing SMEs including tech startups, fashion brands and charities, is looking to add a Finance Assistant to their hybrid team. This role supports a team of Financial Controllers and Business Partners, offering a clear progression path and exposure to a variety of industries.

This is a great opportunity for someone with hands‑on experience in transactional and month‑end finance processes, ideally with knowledge of Xero, looking to develop within a forward‑thinking and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with monthly payment runs
  • Support with VAT returns and compliance
  • Handle month‑end processes including journals, reconciliations and reporting
  • Manage prepayments and accruals
  • Use Xero for day‑to‑day accounting
  • Collaborate with internal finance teams and support multiple client accounts
Candidate Profile
  • AAT qualified, working towards, or QBE with strong finance experience
  • Confident using Xero or similar cloud‑based software
  • Good understanding of core accounting principles including VAT, prepayments and month‑end
  • Comfortable working in a centralised team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
