Job summary

Nxtgen Recruitment is recruiting for an Assistant Manager in accountancy practice. The role involves owning a varied client portfolio, leading assignments and mentoring junior team members.

You will sit between technical delivery and client management, taking on more responsibility and becoming a key member of the team. You will manage client portfolios, plan assignments, meet deadlines, review work, and identify opportunities for additional services.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CA or equivalent experience.

Ready for the next step in your accountancy practice career?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts professional to step into an Assistant Manager position where you will take real ownership of a varied client portfolio, lead assignments and support the development of more junior team members.

You will sit at the point between strong technical delivery and client management, giving you the opportunity to build on your existing experience while taking on more responsibility and becoming a key member of the wider team.

What You'll Be Doing

You will manage your own portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for planning assignments, managing deadlines and ensuring work is delivered to a high standard.

Your role will include:

• Managing and reviewing accounts and tax work across a varied portfolio
• Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback
• Preparing and reviewing medium sized sets of accounts and tax returns
• Supporting clients with financial reporting, VAT and general accounting matters
• Identifying opportunities for additional services and adding value for clients
• Developing strong relationships with clients and gaining a genuine understanding of their businesses
• Supporting managers and partners with more complex technical matters
• Helping to train and develop junior colleagues
• Taking an active role in team management, including performance reviews and supporting development plans
• Getting involved in interviews and the selection of new team members
• Keeping assignments on track, managing WIP and ensuring deadlines and budgets are met

What We're Looking For

You will ideally be ACA, ACCA or CA qualified, although those qualified by experience will also be considered.

You will have developed your experience within an accountancy practice and be confident working across accounts and tax assignments.

Most importantly, you will be someone who is ready to take ownership, comfortable dealing directly with clients and keen to develop their career into a management position.
