We are a small chemical manufacturing company seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to support our finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks. Three days per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, excellent organisational skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Performing bank reconciliations and monitoring company bank accounts
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Managing petty cash
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
- Supporting credit control by chasing outstanding payments
- Responding to supplier and client queries via phone and email
- Liaising with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations
- Ad-hoc administrative duties and support to the finance team as required
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance assistant role
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with accounting software e.g Sage
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks
Desirable
- Experience in the manufacturing industry
- Drivers licence and own transport as trips to the bank and post office may be required from time to time
