Accounts Assistant - Belfast City Centre

Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 (dependent on experience)

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm | Friday 8:30am-4:00pm

Brook Street Recruitment is delighted to be working with our client based in Belfast City Centre, who are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their growing finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to support the day-to-day finance operations within a busy and supportive accounts department. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting duties and have the opportunity to further develop their financial skills as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process purchase ledger invoices, ensuring accurate coding, authorisation, and timely posting to the accounting system
  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including accruals and prepayments
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies efficiently
  • Support the credit control process, maintaining positive relationships with customers and following up on outstanding payments
  • Prepare and maintain supplier reconciliations and assist with supplier payment runs
  • Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with internal controls and company policies
  • Contribute to ad hoc finance projects and reporting tasks as required
Criteria
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
  • Strong understanding of purchase ledger, reconciliations, and general accounting duties
  • Experience assisting with management accounts, accruals, and prepayments desirable (but not essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or similar) advantageous
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and organised approach
