Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is working with a well-established, medium-sized manufacturing business based in Malvern to recruit a Finance Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive finance team and develop your skills.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will assist with purchase ledger, cashbook, reconciliations, expenses, and monthly payment runs, with a view to grow within an international business; salary £25,000–£26,000 per annum plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience with basic accounting tasks and processes.
• Proficient Excel skills and strong numerical ability.
• Good communication and teamwork within a finance team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with purchase ledger and postings.
• Post cashbook payments and receipts.
• Complete weekly/monthly bank reconciliations.
• Process employee expenses and support payment runs.
• Maintain key monthly spreadsheets and logs.
• Undertake ad hoc finance duties as required.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with and providing cover for the purchase ledger
• Posting cashbook payments and receipts
• Completing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
• Processing employee expenses
• Supporting twice-monthly payment runs
• Maintaining key monthly spreadsheets, including credit note logs, manual pricing reports and mileage trackers
• Assisting with a variety of ad hoc finance duties

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be proactive, organised, and eager to learn. You will have:

• Previous basic accounting experience
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confidence using Microsoft Excel
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach
