Job summary

Saffery LLP in Inverness seeks a part-qualified ICAS/ACCA/AAT/ACA accountant with broad client experience across partnerships, trusts and sole traders. The role covers year-end compliance and ad-hoc advisory work, offering development in advisory, client management and supervision.

You will work on varied client affairs and contribute to training, cross-department collaboration and relationship building. The Inverness office embraces flexible and hybrid working.

Qualifications

  • Part-qualified with ACA/ICAS/ACCA or AAT, with some practice experience.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of accounting systems (Xero/QuickBooks/Sage/Key Prime/Farmplan; CCH AP advantageous).
  • Self-motivated and proactive; able to manage workload.
  • Excellent communication with managers, partners and clients.
  • Natural team player with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills; able to handle multiple jobs.
  • Able to work well under pressure.

Job description

We are seeking an ICAS/ACCA/AAT/ACA part-qualified (or with previous experience) Accounts Assistant/Associate who has experience of a broad range of clients, including partnerships, trusts, sole traders and companies covering various activities, such as Landed Estates, agriculture, renewables, natural capital, property development and rental and consultancy services.

The Role

The work is varied and ranges from typical year end compliance through to ad-hoc advisory and project work. The client base is a mix of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, limited liability partnerships, trusts and smaller private charities.

The role is permanent and would suit a part-qualified ICAS/ACCA/AAT/ACA accountant who is seeking to consolidate their knowledge of accounts, compliance and trusts, and take it to the next level by building on their advisory, client management and supervisory skills.

The candidate would be responsible for working on a variety of clients’ affairs, and the role would include (but is not limited to) the following key elements, within agreed deadlines:

  • Preparation of year-end financial statements
  • Assisting clients with VAT and bookkeeping queries, including set up and support on accounting systems
  • Training and supporting others in the office
  • Cross-departmental communication
  • Building and maintaining client relationships

The Office

The Inverness office is home to 5 partners and over 80 staff. The office has a mix of local and remote workers, and is a welcoming and inclusive place to work. You

  • Preferably ACA/ICAS/ACCA or AAT part-qualified with some prior experience of working in practice.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills, along with the ability to learn quickly.
  • A good knowledge of Excel and Word is essential.
  • Understanding of accounting systems including Xero, Quickbooks, Sage, Key Prime, Farmplan as well as CCH AP would be advantageous.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with the ability to organise your own workload.
  • Display a flexible, professional approach and have the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with managers, partners and clients.
  • Natural team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and excellent eye for detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work on multiple jobs at once
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment
  • Proactive nature and enjoys working as part of a team.
