Accounts Assistant

Location: Hook – Fully Office Based

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transactional / General Ledger Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic finance team within a successful and growing organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in transactional accounting who enjoys working across both purchase and sales ledger functions, as well as supporting month-­end and general ledger processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile purchase ledger and sales ledger accounts
  • Process invoices, payments, credit notes, and staff expenses accurately and promptly
  • Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cashbook management
  • Support the month-­end close process, including journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with VAT returns, accruals, and prepayments
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve queries efficiently
  • Support the finance team with ad‑hoc reporting and project work as required
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in an accounts assistant role
  • Proficient in Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g. SAP)
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
