Job summary

ACCA Careers is partnering with a fast-growing maritime business to recruit an Accounts Assistant who will support month-end close, group reporting, journals, intercompany reconciliations and treasury activities.

You will work with finance teams in the UK and internationally, assist with cost variances, tax compliance, and drive process improvements including automation and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of double-entry, accruals and prepayments.
• Experience with reconciliations and month-end.
• Intermediate Excel skills with lookups and pivot tables.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage workload.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in technology, automation and AI.
• Ability to work with colleagues across countries.

Responsibilities

• Supporting monthly accounts and group reporting.

• Preparing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
• Assisting with month-end and year-end processes.
• Investigating cost variances and supporting financial reporting.
• Processing purchase invoices and employee expenses.
• Preparing bank reconciliations and supporting treasury activities.
• Supporting UK tax compliance and external audits.
• Working with finance teams across the UK and internationally.
• Supporting process improvements, automation and AI projects.
• Helping to improve controls, systems and processes across finance.
• Providing transactional cover for international colleagues when required.

Description

• Supporting monthly accounts and group reporting
• Preparing journals, including accruals, prepayments and intercompany recharges

Profile

• Previous Assistant Accountant / transactional finance experience
• A solid understanding of double-entry, accruals and prepayments
• Experience with reconciliations and month-end
• Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI
• Confidence working with colleagues across different countries

Job Offer

• Salary ranging from £35,000 to £40,000, dependent on the level of experience.
