Job summary

Ashdown Group is seeking an Accounts Assistant for a hybrid role (home 2 days a week, 3 days in the office). You will handle transactional finance duties, including processing invoices, supplier payments, and reviewing ledgers.

You will assist with VAT returns and maintain accurate records, participating in month-end and year-end closings. You will develop management accounting skills over time, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations, while supporting budgeting and cash

Job description

A highly successful company is looking for an accomplished Accounts Assistant to join its team. Please note this role is hybrid – you’ll work from home 2 days per week with 3 days in the office.

You’ll have a broad range of transactional finance duties. These will include processing purchase invoices and supplier payments, reviewing the purchase ledger, preparing monthly creditor analysis, reconciling company credit cards and processing foreign supplier payments. You’ll also liaise with suppliers to resolve queries, support VAT returns and maintain accurate financial records.

Working as part of the finance team, you’ll play an important role in providing accurate, timely and meaningful financial information to support business decision-making. Over time you will gain experience with management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, while supporting month-end and year-end close processes.

You’ll also be involved in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections and variance analysis, helping to identify trends and investigate differences between actual and budgeted performance. This will involve working with colleagues across the organisation and explaining financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

In order to be suitable for this role you must be a personable finance professional with great analytical skills. It is expected that you will be pursuing AAT, CIMA or ACCA qualifications and study support will be provided. You’ll be comfortable working independently while also being a collaborative team player, with the confidence to build effective relationships across the wider organisation.
