We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our Accounting and Business Solutions Team to be based from our Dundee or Aberdeen office. The successful candidate would have a key role in supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality accountancy services. This includes preparing financial accounts, management reports, and bookkeeping/VAT services for a diverse range of clients.

What does the role include?

The role is varied, and responsibilities include:

  • Prepare financial statements for a range of clients, including limited companies, in line with FRS 105 and FRS 102, partnerships and LLPs.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts for a range of owner managed businesses.
  • Prepare charity accounts and understand the principles of fund accounting and Charities SORP compliance
  • Conduct independent examinations of charity financial statements on both accruals and receipts & payments basis
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments—such as tax and payroll—to ensure efficient and accurate service delivery
  • Build professional relationships with clients, responding to queries confidently and escalating issues where appropriate
  • Support the wider team by assisting with ad-hoc tasks, administrative duties and involvement in internal projects.
What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will:

  • AAT qualified or part-qualified CA/ACCA, or qualified by experience
  • Have a minimum of 18 month of experience within a professional accounting practice
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as CCH, Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage Excellent
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial data, and apply problem-solving skills
  • Positive, proactive and flexible attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and continuous development
