A well-established engineering firm in Chesterfield is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support day-to-day finance operations. The role includes processing invoices, managing petty cash, and assisting with payroll. Qualifications

Overview

Axon Moore are delighted to be recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a well-established engineering firm in Chesterfield.

As an Accounts Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the finance department with day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities
  • Processing purchase invoices and reconciling supplier statements
  • Managing petty cash and company credit card transactions
  • Prepare VAT returns
  • Assisting with payroll and timesheet collation
  • Supporting month-end procedures and reporting
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to resolve queries
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with financial procedures
Required Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar finance or accounts role
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Knowledge of VAT, CIS, prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, and payroll is advantageous
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with accounting software Sage 50 is an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Desired Qualifications
  • AAT Level 2 or above (or working towards it)
  • Experience with Sage or similar accounting systems
