About the Role

The Finance Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and take full ownership of the accounts, including P&L production, balance‑sheet reconciliations, analysis and commentary, budgets, forecasts, cash‑flow, VAT and year‑end processes. Working within a small, supportive finance team, you will also be significantly involved in the operational side of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Own and produce the entire accounts package (P&L, balance sheet, cash‑flow, VAT, year‑end) and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Report on manufacturing performance, including job costing, material usage, labour efficiency and overhead absorption.
  • Maintain accurate standard and actual costing and support continuous improvement of costing processes.
  • Take responsibility for all stock‑related finance activity, including valuations, variance investigation and initiatives to strengthen stock control and overall financial accuracy.
  • Drive positive change, modernise processes and build a strong finance function with full autonomy.
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and experience digging into details to ensure accuracy and maintain control.
  • Experience in manufacturing, reviewing margins and product profitability, and supporting continuous improvement through costing processes.
  • In‑depth knowledge of accounting for stock.
  • Experience working in an SME environment, prepared to “get stuck in” and foster a true team culture.
  • Qualified accountant preferred; an AAT qualification is also considered.
