Job description

We are recruiting for Accounts Assistant to join our team in Brentwood. As the Accounts Assistant, you will have responsibility for completing all month-end close processes, preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, supporting the UK Finance Team and the Finance Business Partners/FP&A's. You will leverage your experience to analyse monthly management accounts, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and facilitate data‑driven decision‑making. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support budgeting processes and ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all month‑end processes are completed in line with group reporting deadlines
  • Preparing and posting month‑end journals such as accruals and prepayments
  • Reviewing and understanding the financial results for your allocated UK operations and presenting those results to Finance Business Partners or FP&A’s
  • Working with Finance Business Partners to understand and explain variances to forecast, budget, prior month and prior year results
  • Reviewing P&L commentaries before distribution to sites along with post month‑end deep‑dive reviews and documenting discussion fully
  • Supporting the Senior Reporting Accountants, Finance Business Partners or FP&A’s with annual budgeting and weekly forecasting processes
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring open items are resolved
  • Supporting the control framework by ensuring documentation of monthly, quarterly and half‑yearly controls is completed as required
Qualifications
  • Accounting or finance degree
  • Started or interested in a professional accounting qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA
  • Experience in financial reporting processes and month‑end procedures
  • Experience in preparing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience in supporting annual budgeting and weekly forecasting processes
  • Experience working with Finance Business Partners or FP&A teams is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and compliance
  • Willing and capable of learning and working in a fast‑paced environment
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of MS tools, especially MS Excel
  • Experience in using a Finance ERP system. Experience with IBM Cognos Controller, PeopleSoft or Sun Systems would be advantageous
